End User Licence Agreement (EULA)
This End User Licence Agreement (the “Agreement”) governs your use of the software AutoVPN (the “Software”) between you (the “Licensee”) and
Aaron Alexander Gladun, Sandstein Pixel, Grundstraße 4e, 01847 Lohmen, Germany (the “Provider”)
By installing or using the Software you agree to this Agreement. Please pay particular attention to section 4 (use on one device) and section 5 (periodic online licence check) — both directly affect how you can use the Software.
1. Subject matter
AutoVPN is a macOS application that automatically establishes and disconnects a WireGuard VPN connection based on trusted and untrusted networks.
The Software is a client only. The Licensee brings their own WireGuard configuration and their own VPN server. The Provider operates no VPN server, supplies no VPN infrastructure and routes none of the Licensee’s traffic. Without a working WireGuard configuration of your own, the Software cannot be used.
2. System requirements
The Software requires a Mac running macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. It installs a system extension which must be approved in macOS System Settings. The Provider does not warrant operability on earlier system versions.
3. Trial period
The Software can be trialled free of charge with full functionality for 14 days. No registration or personal data is required for this, and during the trial there is no connection to the Provider’s activation service.
After the trial expires, activating a valid licence is required to continue using the VPN function; without a licence, establishing a connection is blocked. The trial is available once per device.
4. Grant of licence — use on one device
Upon payment in full, the Licensee receives a simple, non-exclusive, non-transferable and perpetual right to install and use the major version purchased (version 1.x) for their own purposes.
The licence permits concurrent use on one (1) Mac. The Licensee may transfer the licence to another Mac at any time by releasing the activation in the Software and then activating it on the new device. Concurrent use on several devices is not covered by this licence.
Future major versions (e.g. 2.0) may be subject to a charge and are not covered by this licence.
5. Licence key and activation
Licence key. The licence key is personal to you and must be kept confidential. It contains your name and email address. Passing it on, publishing it or allowing third parties to use it is not permitted.
Activation. To enforce the single-device use under section 4, the Software activates the licence once with an activation service operated by the Provider. In doing so it transmits the licence key, a pseudonymous device identifier and the app version. Details are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Ongoing checks. After activation, the Software verifies its entitlement offline using a signed confirmation valid for 14 days. An online connection is needed only to renew that confirmation before it expires — in practice about once a week. If the device is offline at that moment, a grace period applies; the Software does not lock immediately. A permanent internet connection is not required for operation, but an occasional one is.
Revocation. The Provider may revoke a licence key if the payment has been reversed or refunded, if the key has been shared or published without authorisation, or at the Licensee’s request (for example if it is lost). Once the grace period has elapsed, a revoked licence means the VPN function will no longer start.
6. Restrictions
The Licensee shall not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software except where mandatory law permits this — in particular §§ 69d, 69e of the German Copyright Act (UrhG). The licence check and the activation under section 5 must not be circumvented, modified or disabled.
7. Purchase, payment, invoicing and withdrawal
Sales are made through Stripe as merchant of record. Stripe is therefore your counterparty for the purchase contract, processes the payment, issues the invoice and remits VAT. Stripe’s terms apply in addition.
Right of withdrawal. Consumers generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for contracts covering digital content. That right expires early if you expressly consent to performance beginning before the withdrawal period ends and confirm your awareness that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (§ 356(5) of the German Civil Code, BGB). The corresponding notice and the handling of any withdrawal are provided by Stripe during checkout.
Independently of this, the Provider recommends using the free 14-day trial (section 3) before purchasing, in order to test the Software in your own environment.
8. Updates
The Software includes an update function which by default checks once a day whether a new version is available. Updates within the major version purchased — in particular bug fixes and security updates — are covered by the licence and free of charge for the Licensee. The automatic check can be disabled in the Software’s settings.
As against consumers, the statutory obligation to provide updates for digital products (§§ 327f, 327u BGB) remains unaffected.
9. Third-party components and trademarks
The Software includes third-party open-source components — in particular WireGuard and related Go libraries — which are governed by their respective licence terms. The full licence texts can be viewed in the Software under “Legal & open-source licences”.
“WireGuard” is a registered trademark of Jason A. Donenfeld. AutoVPN is an independent product, is not affiliated with WireGuard LLC or Jason A. Donenfeld, and is neither endorsed nor sponsored by them.
10. Warranty
Statutory warranty rights apply; as against consumers, the provisions on digital products (§§ 327 et seq. BGB) apply in addition.
The Provider does not warrant that the Software will operate without interruption with any given WireGuard configuration, VPN server or network environment. The Software is not a substitute for a comprehensive security architecture and does not guarantee anonymity on the internet.
11. Liability
The Provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, under the German Product Liability Act, and for injury to life, body or health.
In the event of slightly negligent breach of a material contractual obligation (cardinal obligation), liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Liability is otherwise excluded.
The Licensee is responsible for the correctness and security of their own VPN configuration and for the VPN server they use.
12. Term and termination
The licence is perpetual. In the event of serious breaches of material provisions of this Agreement — in particular sections 4, 5 or 6 — that continue despite a warning, the Provider may revoke the rights of use and revoke the licence key. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
13. Final provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state in which the Licensee has their habitual residence remain unaffected.
This Agreement is available in German and English. The authoritative version is the one in the language in which the Software was offered to you and in which you entered into the contract.
Should any provision of this Agreement be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected.
